So new question…can my tetras live in a plain fish bowl for a couple days while I clean both of my tanks and get them set back up? The benefit is that UV light tends to cause some materials to fluoresce. 370nm is just barely within our range of visible light, and is quite far into the violet spectrum, producing UVA rays which can potentially be harmful. I am thinking that again…I am going to have to start fresh…cleaning everything thoroughly and reconditioning the tanks but the question is where do I put the 3 live fish till the tank is ready? I guess I will have to find some sort of container or keep an extra fish bowl handy for these situations. A black-light is essentially a fluorescent bulb that produces light in the 370nm range. So I can't say whether the black stuff is killing my fish or the fish from walmart has contaminated my tanks and killed 1 of my original fish. My kiddos also don't turn off the tank light often…could this also be the problem? There is a filter that uses the biobags and we do check them often.
